The Sarasota Slam Committee plays an essential role in planning, organizing, and bringing to life one of Southwest Florida's most celebrated fishing tournaments. For 26 years, the Sarasota Slam has brought together passionate anglers, generous sponsors, and the local community for an unforgettable experience on the beautiful waters of Sarasota, Florida.
From securing sponsorships and coordinating tournament activities to enhancing the overall angler experience, committee members work together to ensure the continued success and growth of this signature Suncoast Builders Association event. With more than 1,400 anglers having competed and over $950,000 awarded in cash prizes throughout its history, the Sarasota Slam has established a lasting legacy in the regional fishing community.
Beyond the competition, the committee is dedicated to making a positive impact through its support of Fillet for Friends. This meaningful initiative encourages participating anglers to donate portions of their catches, providing fresh, locally caught fish to individuals and families in need. It's an opportunity to turn a passion for fishing into a powerful way to give back to our community.
The committee also proudly supports the Suncoast Apprenticeship Academy, an initiative focused on developing the next generation of skilled trades professionals through hands-on education and workforce training. A portion of the tournament's proceeds directly benefits the development of the Academy, helping build a stronger future for our region's construction industry.
The Sarasota Slam Committee is about more than organizing a fishing tournament. It's about building relationships, creating memorable experiences, supporting our community, and continuing a tradition that anglers and sponsors look forward to year after year. Committee members have the opportunity to contribute their ideas, connections, and expertise while playing an active role in the success of one of the association's most exciting annual events.
