Building a Stronger Community
The Suncoast Builders Association’s commitment to our community extends beyond the homes and businesses our members build. Through workforce development, volunteer projects and partnerships with local organizations, we bring people together to support families, create opportunities and strengthen the future of Manatee and Sarasota counties.
Suncoast Apprenticeship Academy
Preparing the next generation of skilled professionals is essential to our region’s future. The Suncoast Apprenticeship Academy is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit being developed to create pathways into construction careers through hands-on training, industry education and connections with local employers. With a building acquired in Sarasota, the academy is moving closer to establishing a dedicated space where future tradespeople can develop the skills needed to build rewarding careers and serve our growing community.
Support for the academy is an investment in local talent, quality construction and a strong workforce for generations to come.
Putting Our Members’ Skills to Work
Our members have a long history of using their expertise to make a meaningful difference. One example is the Hicks House project, which brought members together to remodel the home of Karen Hicks, a Sarasota County sheriff’s deputy and Guardian ad Litem. Members donated their time, labor and materials to complete the renovation, demonstrating the impact our industry can make when we work together.
Helping Students Start Strong
Through our Stuff the Backpack initiative, members help local children begin the school year prepared and confident. Benefiting the Boys & Girls Clubs of Manatee and Sarasota counties, the effort brings members together to collect school supplies and fill backpacks for students. In 2025, 1000 backpacks were filled and donated to children in our community.
Connecting the Community with Quality Homebuilding
The annual Parade of Homes showcases the craftsmanship, design and innovation of our region’s builders. Residents and visitors can explore outstanding model homes throughout Manatee and Sarasota counties, discover the latest building products and technologies, and connect with the professionals helping shape our communities.

Casting a Line for a Cause
The Sarasota Slam brings anglers, businesses and the community together for an annual fishing tournament that supports a selected local charity. The tournament also partners with Fillet for Friends to help address hunger through donations of fresh fish from participating anglers. These efforts turn a day on the water into an opportunity to help local families.
