About Us

Our History

The Suncoast Builders Association (Formerly the MSBIA) is the consolidated voice of the building, construction, development and associated industries for our region. Originally chartered in August of 1962, the BIA is a professional trade organization comprised of local builders and associated businesses working together to build and improve our community.

The building industry is the primary driver of our local economy, the largest employing industry, and the main tax revenue source of our region. ScBA membership unifies our interests to advocate for the health of the housing industry and the prosperity of our region.

The association operated for many years as a single entity covering Manatee, Sarasota, Hardee and DeSoto counties. In 1983 the organization split its operations and was re-chartered as two separate associations, one in Manatee, and one in Sarasota County. Manatee's charter included Hardee, and Sarasota's charter included DeSoto. DeSoto was later acquired by Charlotte County BIA in 2004. In 2009 Manatee and Sarasota again joined forces as a single entity as the HBA Manatee-Sarasota. The association has a long history of building industry advocacy and community involvement. In October of 2013 the HBA Manatee-Sarasota changed its name to Manatee-Sarasota Building Industry Association.

With the goal of expanding our membership base even further, we became the Suncoast Builders Association in January of 2024. The association continues to support our industry concerns and housing issues for the good of the industry and the citizens of the community.

The association is affiliated with both the (FHBA) Florida Home Builders Association and the (NAHB) National Association of Home Builders.

Our Community

The Suncoast Builders Association is fully engaged and entrenched into the community with clear understanding of giving back both by individual members as well as collectively from the entire membership. The ScBA has embraced the development of the FBA Future Builders of America program with our high school students, our support for Habitat for Humanity efforts, to meaningful and worthwhile charities that provide the help to our citizens in this community.

Our Motto

As a trade organization reflective of the residential construction industry we give great credence to...

Because of the collective causes and issues that the membership focuses on it creates a tangible benefit where members can share contacts and business opportunity to everyone’s success.
