Building a Stronger Suncoast
The Suncoast Builders Association brings together the people and businesses shaping the places we live, work, and grow. With more than 600 members across Manatee and Sarasota counties, we represent builders, developers, trade contractors, suppliers, consultants, and businesses that support every stage of construction.
We give our industry a united voice, advocate for housing and a healthy business environment, and help members build relationships that lead to lasting opportunities. Through our affiliations with the Florida Home Builders Association and the National Association of Home Builders, our members benefit from resources and representation at the local, state, and national levels.
Our History
Our roots date back to August 1962, when the association was originally chartered to serve the building industry in Manatee, Sarasota, Hardee, and DeSoto counties.
In 1983, the organization separated into two associations. The Manatee association served Manatee and Hardee counties, while the Sarasota association served Sarasota and DeSoto counties. In 2004, DeSoto County became part of the Charlotte County Building Industry Association’s service area.
Manatee and Sarasota reunited in 2009 as the HBA Manatee-Sarasota, strengthening our ability to represent the region’s building industry. In October 2013, the organization became the Manatee-Sarasota Building Industry Association.
In January 2024, we adopted the name Suncoast Builders Association to welcome a broader membership and better reflect the industry we serve. Throughout these changes, our purpose has remained consistent: supporting our members, advocating for our industry, and contributing to the prosperity of our region.
Our Community
Quality construction starts with qualified professionals. The Suncoast Builders Association connects our community with licensed and insured builders and contractors who bring expertise, accountability, and a commitment to high standards to their work.
Our members play an essential role in strengthening the local workforce. By creating career opportunities, developing skills, and sharing their experience, they help ensure our region has the professionals needed to meet construction demands. Their commitment to quality workmanship supports the homes, businesses, and neighborhoods that allow our community to thrive.
We are also investing in the future of our workforce through the development of the Suncoast Apprenticeship Academy. The Academy is being designed to provide practical training, industry certifications, and pathways to meaningful careers in the skilled trades, preparing the next generation to deliver the professional work our community depends on.
Our Motto
DO BUSINESS WITH A MEMBER!
Strong relationships are at the heart of our association. We encourage members to turn to one another for products, services, expertise, and partnerships, creating opportunities that strengthen individual businesses and our industry as a whole.
Every referral, introduction, and collaboration helps support the businesses that invest in our association and share our commitment to the Suncoast.
